How it Started...

It started with a stationery store...

We’re two proud South Africans with a passion for local small businesses. We met at university and quickly became best friends, business partners, and aspiring entrepreneurs, launching various side hustles and startups (and failures) along the way.

After graduating, we took a leap of faith, turned down job offers, scraped our pennies together, and bought our first business, a stationery store, in 2016. Once it was running smoothly, we began searching for our next (ad)venture.

  • Then Came Mia Mélange...

    At the end of 2017, we discovered a small homeware manufacturing business for sale on Gumtree. We immediately fell in love with Mia Mélange, not only as a brand with room for growth and innovation, but as a business that could create meaningful employment and make a positive impact!

  • Next was Nifty250...

    In 2019, we bought Nifty250, a business that transforms cherished digital memories into retro-style prints. During Covid, we launched Nifty Posters to help people create beautiful spaces with affordable wall art while supporting local artists who had lost access to physical markets.

  • Then The Cotton Company...

    In 2023, we bought the Cotton Company, retailing and wholesaling towels and throws imported from Turkey. Due to our passion for supporting local, we saw an opportunity to largely replace imports with quality towels and throws made locally from 100% cotton, grown in South Africa.
